Summary of Esri local users conference in Tallinn

One of the biggest event on AlphaGIS 10th anniversary year was 11th Esri local users conference on May 14-15 held in Tallinn. Conference has become a part of AlphaGIS history. Knowing that this year the event brought together such a large and diverse range of GIS fans created a warm feeling. There were GIS users and location-based technologie enthusiasts of Estonian institutions, general education schools and universities. AlphaGIS hosted these days about 170 participants from more than 70 organizations. There were 32 different performers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Great Britain and France.

Arsis Handbell Choir from Tartu opened the conference with a beautiful instrumental musical performance.

The main topic of the conference was the Esri technology innovations and updates that will be available in the ArcGIS 10.3 version and it’s new features for desktops, servers and mobile, new products, Esri’s ArcGIS Online cloud services, Esri Maps for Office solutions, new development fields and much more. In a closing session Andrei Korobeinik brought to the listeners exciting developments in the IT field.

We hope we could bring some joy and happyness with three conference awards: one for Emajõe Waterworks (The best GIS achievement in 2014) and the other for Estonian Land Board (The best ArcGIS Online Map in 2014). For the firs time we announced a scholarship for Esri Young Scholars Award. This year Jürgen Vahtra from Estonian University of Life Sciences was the lucky one who will fly to San Diego for Esri International User Conference.
